Hannibal Pictures...un stage dans le monde du cinéma

Voilà un petit moment que j’ai commencé mon stage, il est donc temps de vous présenter mon entreprise et mon rôle dans celle-ci.

Le bureau sur Sunset Boulevard, West Hollywood

Hannibal Pictures est une société qui produit et vend des films. Ce qui est vraiment drôle c’est que Richard Rionda Del Castro, son PDG, est un ancien élève de l’INSEEC Bordeaux. Ils produisent 3 à 6 films par an avec un budget de 5 à 30 millions de dollars. Ils font des films de plus en plus importants (gros budget, acteurs importants...). Pour vous donnez un exemple, ils ont récemment tourné "GUN" avec 50 cent et Val Kilmmer, "CASINO JACK" avec Kevin Spacey et "THE BIG BANG"avec Antonio Banderas et Snoop Dog. Ils ont également travaillé avec Andrian Brody, Elsa Pataky, Roseline Sanchez, Gerard Depardieu, Johnny Hallyday, Richard Boringer, Emmanuelle Seigner, ect.

Dans l’équipe, nous sommes 6  (avec moi) et chacun à un rôle particulier :
- Richard, qui  s’occupe de tout l’aspect financier, qui négocie avec les banques et qui est surtout le super boss, celui qui prend toutes les décisions!
-Patricia, qui s’occupe de toute la partie artistique : affiche de film, graphiste, imprimeur...ect.
-Cam, chargé du développement, pour être plus clair, c’est lui qui lit les scripts, qui les aime ou non, qui les propose au directeur, qui les modifie si besoin, qui fait des listes d’acteurs potentiels, qui négocie les contrats avec les acteurs ou bien souvent leurs agents, qui les aide avec leurs personnages… ect.
-Jonathan, le directeur des ventes, qui traite avec les distributeurs du monde entier pour vendre les films (Exemple en France : TF1, M6, Gaumont...).
-Hayley, qui est le bras droit de Richard, son agenda, sa mémoire.
Je suis tombée sur une équipe formidable avec qui je m’entends parfaitement bien. Dès le début, ça a tout de suite collé.

J’aime ce stage parce que j’apprends. Et je le remarque à des choses toutes bêtes. Avant quand j’allais au cinéma, je regardais le film et je partais. Je ne me posais pas de questions.  Maintenant je regarde qui l’a produit, qui l’a écrit,  je me demande combien le film a coûté. Et quand le film se passe à NY, je sais très bien qu’il a certainement été tourné en Louisiane ou quelque chose comme ça.

 Ce qui est enrichissant pour moi c’est que je travaille dans une petite entreprise, qui fait tout de A à Z. De la pré-production à la post-production. Comme ça je ne vois pas qu’une partie du travail. Je vois toutes les étapes : comment on choisit un script, comment on choisit les acteurs, les endroits où tourner les films, comment on finance un film, comment on négocie les contrats, comment on le tourne, comment on le met en boîte et  comment on le vend.
Je n'ai pas de missions particulières, celles-ci changent tous les jours. Je travaille donc  souvent avec une personne différente. Ce qui est un avantage pour moi, parce que je vois différentes manières de travailler. Mes missions sont vraiment variées. Au fil de ces dernières semaines, j’ai travaillé avec Cam et lu des scripts, donné mon avis sur le scénario, les personnages, assisté à ses réunions et vu des écrivains lui proposer leurs films ; j’ai travaillé avec Jonathan dans la vente, j’ai contacté des distributeurs dans le monde entier, envoie d’e-mails ou appels, pour leur présenter les films, leur montrer les bandes annonces...ect ; j’ai travaillé avec Patty sur l'affiche d'un film et puis en relation avec le monde du cinéma, j’ai aussi assisté à une séance photo avec le rappeur 50 cent pour l’affiche d’un film,  et je suis alleé voir différents "screenings"  (projection privée de films que l’on cherche à vendre à un producteur). Et j'espère encore pouvoir vous en raconter d'autres dans les semaines à venir...

Hannibal Pictures... an internship in the business movie

It has been a while since my internship began, now is a good time to talk about my company and where I stand in it.

Hannibal Pictures is a company which produces and sells movies. What is really funny it is that Richard Rionda Del Castro, its CEO, was before a student at INSEEC Bordeaux. They produce 3 to 6 motion pictures per year with budgets between 5 to 25 million dollars. They now produce more and more known movies in Hollywood (bigger budget, famous actors). To give you an example, they recently shot "Gun" with 50 cent and Valley Kilmmer, " Casino  Jack" with Kevin Spacey and "The Big bang" with Antonio Banderas and Snoop Dog. They also worked with Andrian Brody, Elsa Pataky, Roseline Sanchez, Gerard Depardieu, Johnny Hallyday, Richard Boringer, Emmanuelle Seigner, ect.

In my team we are 6 including me and everyone has a specific role :
- Richard takes care of the financial department and above all who is the big boss!
- Patricia work in the artistic department : poster of film, graphic designer, printer ect.
-Cam is the head of development, to be more clear, he is the one who reads the scripts, who likes them or not, who them to the CEO, who edits them if necessary, who lists the potential actors, who negotiates the contracts with the actors or more often with their agents.
-Jonathan is the director of sales, he deals with the distributors of the entire world to sell movies (Example in France: TF1, M6, Gaumont).
-Hayley is the director of business affair and Richard’s secretary.
My team is amazing and I perfectly get along with them. From the beginning, it felt right.

I enjoy working at Hannibal pictures because I am learning a lot. Before when I went to the movies, I just watched the movie left without asking myself questions. Now I look at who produced it, who wrote the scenario. I wonder how much the film cost. When the film takes place in NY, I now know that it was certainly shot in Louisiana or somewhere else.

What is the most rewarding to me is to work in a small company because they do everything themselves from A to Z.  I am familiar with a lot of business departments such as finance, development, marketing, etc. I learned every step: how to choose a script, how to choose the actors, how to choose the places where to movie will be shot, how to finance a film, how to negotiate contracts, how to shoo it, how to mix it and how to sell it.
I have no particular missions or challenges, it changes every day. Different people work with me. It is very beneficial to me because we use different ways of working. I have different goals all the time.For example these last few weeks, I worked with Cam and read the scripts, I gave my opinion on the scenario, on the characters. I joined him  to his business meetings and I have seen the writers present their movies; I also helped Jonathan in the sales department, I contacted distributors all over the world, I sent them e-mails, called them to inform them about the new movies and show them trailers ect. I worked with Patty on a movie’s poster. Finally, I also attended a photo shoot with the rapper 50 Cent for a movie’s poster, and I went to some "screenings" (private screening room where we  watch a movie in order to buy it). Next time, I wish I will have some new stories to tell you.
